The year of the Woman
Many people may view 2020 as the worst of times. But, with a little perspective, it’s possible to see the year as the darkness before the dawn - especially for women. It has taken us nearly 250 years since the inception of the United States to elect a female Vice President. Yet, it has finally been accomplished in spite of a global pandemic, social injustice, extreme political polarization and economic crisis.
So how do we take this flame and turn it into an inferno? One way is to acknowledge women that have achieved greatness in our world and share that information with our daughters, granddaughters, friends, relatives, and loved ones.
In creating my series of iconic women I aimed not only to highlight particular women but, to celebrate womanhood. The collection reminds us of the leadership, creativity, passion, talent, and strength that women possess. It inspires us to feel empowered and lets us know that we can achieve greatness as well. I want to convey that being female is not just who a person is, it’s also a gift.
